The Board of Trustees of the ACCP Research Institute determined the following criteria will be used to select research questions suitable for the ACCP PBRN to address. The initial research question(s) will:
- Address a major issue with impact on public health and be relevant to key policy makers on a national level.
- Be able to be completed within 1 year, yet be simple and elegant in design
- Be testable using scientifically rigorous measurable hard objective outcomes (not surrogate measures) that have internal validity.
- Not be able to be addressed by other research methods outside of a clinical pharmacy-based PBRN framework
- Be relevant to the profession of clinical pharmacy and align with the ACCP research agenda and mission
- Align across clinical practice venues and can be implemented in various practice sites or is reproducible in various practice sites
- Interventional compared to observational in nature
